Even though he wasn’t involved in the development of Firaxis’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the original game’s creator, Julian Gollop, has been reaping the benefits of the game’s critical success. Now working as an independent game developer in Sofia, Bulgaria, Gollop’s hard at work remaking another of his old games, Chaos (hey! You can read all about that stuff right here).

Today, Gollop announced via Facebook that he’ll be appearing at the Game Developer Conference, or GDC, when it hits San Francisco this March. Gollop’s talk is labeled as a “Classic Game Postmorten,” and is joined by three other designers: Crystal Castles’ Franz Lanzinger, Pinball Construction Set’s Bill Budge, and Myst’s Robyn Miller.

Considering how much attention XCOM’s been getting over the last few months, I have a feeling his talk will be pretty well-attended.

It’s a good week for fan remakes. First the King’s Quest fan game sees the light of day, and now UFO: The Two Sides hits open beta, allowing everyone the opportunity to poorly manage an anti-alien defense corporation. The release allows displays in higher resolution along with a redesigned UI. Your guys will probably still drop their guns and run like sissies at the first sight of a Sectoid though.
