New game mode, new map, new languages...todos para gratis.

Gotham City Impostors is one of those games I own that I’m always meaning to go back and keep playing. Fortunately for me, a buddy of mine here who bought the game too will be done with his semester in grad school in a matter of weeks. That means lots, and lots, and lots of Batman- or Joker-themed shooting shenanigans.

And it seems as though I’ll have the chance to check out tons of new content. Today, Monolith released some free DLC for the game that offers the East End (a new map) and the Bounty Hunter game mode, which tasks players with picking up magic coins dropped by downed allies and enemies, the collection of which offer damage bonuses and team points. And not only that, you can also switch the language of your character from English to French, Italian, Spanish, and German. WACKY!

Pretty cool stuff, man. I really did enjoy this game…I need to get back to it soon…

This week, Warner Bros. announced that they made certain cuts across their Seattle-based studios, with no clarity about which studios were impacted or by what numbers. Interestingly, 3D Realms co-founder George Broussard oddly tweeted that around 60 people were laid off, with three studios based in Seattle: Monolith Productions, Snowblind Studios and Surreal Software. Gross speculation could point toward Snowblind Studios. The developers for the recent Lord of the Rings: War in the North, it’s not uncommon for publishers to make cuts right after a products ships. Either way, this is a nasty surprise for some unlucky developers in the North West. Best of luck to them all, especially in this increasingly competitive job market. Source Joystiq

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment lifted the veil on Gotham City Impostors today, the game hinted by previous doman registrations. This also answers what Monolith’s been up to since releasing F.E.A.R. 2, those crafty bastards. Gotham City Impostors is a 4 on 4 downloadable first-person shooter, where teams of thugs masquerading as Batman characters shoot it out with crazy weaponry. According to early indications, customization is a huge component of the game. This implies that playing the game will unlock clothes and patterns that you can use to tweak and customize your character. No release date yet, but you can bet that it’ll be timed around the release of Batman: Arkham City which release on October 18. Still waiting on an official press release and media, so we’ll make sure to get more news to you as it surfaces. In the meantime, you can check out the content-less placeholder website. Also, boooo on no Condemned 3. Some day~
