Insomniac Theater: Soul Reaver Lost Audio

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was a good game, but would have been better if it had been finished. Additional powers, bosses, and even an additional brother were axed in order to ship the game in time.

It got more and more obvious as you played that as good as the game was, something was missing. A build-up to a brother that never came and a To Be Continued ending were the most obvious missing elements.

The missing audio has a final ending where you destroy all vampires (including sparkly ones). It also has an encounter with the Priestess from the first game, who would have given you the power to posses your enemies.

Insomniac Theater: Bizarro for President

Wrapping up July 4th, I had to run a political advertisement from a third party candidate, Bizarro. Run on Cartoon Network back in 2000, Bizarro was just one of many cartoon characters running for President at the time.

I’ve always wanted a Bizarro video game. He’s been in the last few horrible Superman games, but never used to full effect. Bizarro World would be a cool setting for any of the DC characters to take him on. In addition, because he’s Bizarro, anytime you lost, you actually won! He’s confirmed to be in DC Universe Online, but we’ll have to see if he brings his cube shaped planet, Htrae, with him.

Bizarro’s message is simple, don’t vote for Bizarro. In his world, this makes sense.

Insomniac Theater: 4th of July

They’re not quite mops and not quite puppets, they’re the Muppets! Though their recent movies have been sub par, the original show and first couple movies are fantastic.

Judd Apatow is actually working on the next Muppet movie. Currently titled “The Best Muppet Movie Ever” it just might bring more of the adult humor back to our fuzzy friends. They are also looking at video games among other ways to bring the Muppets back to the mainstream.

Sam the Eagle is America. He’s an American Eagle after all. What better way to celebrate the holiday than with a heartfelt rendition of Stars and Stripes forever. Happy 4th.

Insomniac Theater: Chu Chu Rocket

Japanese game commercials are always good for a laugh, especially when they are bizarre and strangely accurate in representing the game. Tonight I present to you one of my favorites: Chu Chu Rocket.

A great puzzle game for the Dreamcast, Chu Chu Rocket actually did feature mice escaping from cats by using rocket ships. Enjoy!

Insomniac Theater: Sifl and Olly

Ever since MTV stopped showing music videos, they created some very strange shows for late night TV. Liquid Television was one of the only places to see some cool animated shorts when I was younger and the first place most of us saw Aeon Flux. But the weirdest thing, by far, was a couple of sock puppets named Sifl and Olly.

A half hour of sock puppets could only be shown late at night, but I won’t subject you to that. Instead, enjoy this minute clip of Sifl and Olly starring in their movie masterpiece: Pac-Man the movie.
