Jordan Weisman is a pretty cool guy. He created Battletech, a tabletop game from the ‘90s that ensured that I wouldn’t kiss a girl for a long time. He created HeroClix and the reimagining of Battletech, MechWarrior. He also created the Shadowrun franchise, a sequel for which is currently cruising its way to a cool $1 million in fan-funding over on Kickstarter.

Now, it seems as though he’s hoping to resurrect another cool franchise he created soon: Crimson Skies. Over on Shacknews yesterday, a post offers details about the next potential Weisman-helmed game project.

“I’m hopeful [Crimson Skies is] another property that I can approach soon. I’m in discussions with them about that…I’m hoping that we can bring that back to life as well,” he’s quoted as saying.

The world of Crimson Skies was a sort of alternate-past 1930s, all pulpy and kind of cyberpunky, what with air pirates and dudes wearing a lot of scarves. Think TaleSpin but with less talking bears and less Sally Struthers. But King Louie can stay.

“That era and that story is one of my favorites that we came up with and I’d love to be able to go back and tell stories in that world as well,” said Weisman on his love for Crimson Skies.

Chances are we won’t hear anything more about a potential CS project until well after Shadowrun Returns is underway or even released. But the fact that it found such quick success on Kickstarter definitely bodes well for Weisman fans.
