If you’ve been wondering about when you might get your promised Grand Theft Auto Online “stimulus package”—the half a million bucks’ worth of in-game currency that Rockstar promised in return for suffering through the game’s online bugs—wonder no longer. Rockstar has an answer. Unfortunately, that answer is basically “once everything is fixed.”
A post on Polygon quotes a hard-to-find comment from Rockstar on its own support page, which says “We hope to have an update for you on that very soon. As others have mentioned here, we of course want to make sure player progress loss issues are addressed before providing everyone with their GTA$500K. Thanks for your patience and please stay tuned.”
While I couldn’t find that particular comment, I did find another one from three days ago that says much the same thing:
“Look out for an update on the Stimulus Package very soon. We just need to make sure any loss of game progress issues are totally fixed before we distribute the cash and we are working hard to do that.”
It makes sense that Rockstar wouldn’t want to distribute a gift of a wad of cash, only to have it disappear due to the game’s ongoing stability issues. At the same time, it sure would be nice if the game was fixed already. It’s been out for…a while. And it’s still got these big ol’ problems. So that sucks.
Have you gone into GTA Online lately? Is it working any better for you? Or is it still a mess?
