Titanfall Release Date Set for March 11
When it comes to the impending war between the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, the main conflict between the two sides comes down to what exclusive games each will have on offer. For the Xbox One, the biggest and most exciting exclusive is undoubtedly Titanfall from Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment. The soldier-versus-mechs first-person shooter is exclusive to the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PCs, and today, the developer unveiled the game’s release date.
The game will hit North American shelves on March 11, 2014, while it’ll make its way to Europe on March 13. Respawn co-founder and Call of Duty co-creator Vince Zampella had this to say on the auspicious occasion of the release date announcement:
“Since we revealed the game in June we’ve been absolutely blown away by the reaction to Titanfall. The feedback we’re getting from fans around the world is fueling our team as we head towards March and motivating us to deliver an experience that lives up to the hype.”
Now, I know what you’re thinking: sure, you could just pay sixty bucks and get the game. But wouldn’t you rather spend more and get the game plus a bunch of junk? Well don’t worry: they’ve got you covered. BEHOLD THE COLLECTOR’S EDITION:
That bunch of stuff will set you back a full $250—or half the cost of the Xbox One console—and will get you the game, an 18-inch statue (“with diorama and battery-powered LED lighting”), an art-book, and a poster.
That’s a lot of cool sounding stuff. But allow me to be the first to say that if you buy that, you are a full-on crazy person. That said, if there’s anyone reading this who intends to buy it, I would very much like to hear from you in the comments.
Anyway, knowing when Titanfall is coming out makes the desire for an Xbox One all the more tempting. Sure, I’ll be able to get it on PC, but will it be as EPIC and AMAZING? I don’t know. But I guess the flip side of that is what platforms my friends will have. By then, I don’t know who will own an Xbox One—but I know plenty of folks who have PCs. So there’s that.
Anyway, March! That’s really soon! Are you excited? I am.
