American video game publisher Take-Two Interactive revealed today that its critically-praised Bioshock Infinite now boasts the sales stats to match: with the game selling over 4 million units since its release earlier this year. This makes Irrational Games’ latest the hottest selling multi-platform game of 2013 so far.
Watch out, Mount Your Friends. Bioshock’s coming for you. And it’s not above a nutshot.
“BioShock Infinite is North America’s best-selling multiplatform release so far this year, according to NPD,” Zelnick said during an investor call following the release of Take-Two’s financial results for fiscal Q1 of 2014.
“The title has crossed the 4 million units selling mark, and we expect it to become the top-selling release in the BioShock franchise.”
And with that in mind, don’t forget that the game just put out its first of three slices of downloadable content on all platforms: Clash in the Clouds. Unlike the two story-based DLCs slated for release “before March 2014,” Clash in the Clouds is a wave-based combat-focused mode with no canonical ties to the main plot of Bioshock Infinite. It’s just shooting dudes who are being rude in a feud. That was a small sample of ‘Rhyme Time Prime Chimes’ with Landon, album coming in Spring 2022.
