Molten Games Studio Formed by Ex-Blizzard, Sony, and Relic Developers

Molten Games, a new studio founded by the developers of large game makers like Blizzard, Sony Online Entertainment and Relic Entertainment, has been officially born in San Diego and is working on a new AAA online game for you to get all excited in the pants about.

The team’s first title will be built courtesy of a (potentially) multi-million dollar investment from NCSoft, the publisher who brought you games like Guild Wars 2 and Aion, and is working on publishing forthcoming Carbine Studios MMO Wildstar.

Molten Games’ mission statement includes “breaking free from the traditional developer/publisher relationship” and focusing on solid gameplay iteration “first and foremost.”

“We created Molten Games in order to truly have control over our game development and IP, and we’re going to create something epic,” said Molten Games CEO and co-founder of Jungwon Hahn.

“Our team understands not only the creation of online games, but the ongoing management of them, better than anyone else in the industry. As we continue to build our team and work on our initial product, gameplay and player experience is going to come first with every decision.”

“Molten Games has assembled a wildly talented and experienced team, and we absolutely believe they will create and run an amazing new game experience,” said NCSoft CEO Taek Jin Kim in a press release.

“They’re setting the bar high for themselves, with a strong desire to shake up the online gaming space by creating something new and unique in our industry.”

The team is still in search of visual effects, user interface and concept artists (as well as tool makers and engineers) familiar with the Unreal Engine, so jump on it if you’re a talented developer who just so happens to read this rinky-dink gaming blog whose sole focus is to entertain you with dick jokes and GTA mods… and unquestionable love.
