Courtesy of a publicly-issued statement on Google Plus, Capcom senior vice president Christian Svennson announced that he is no longer with the publisher. He was quick to indicate that he would not be the only individual leaving Capcom, but was reassuring in his intent to assist those he worked with however possible.
“Sadly, I’m not the only one affected by the reorganization today,” mentioned Svennson in his post.
“Over the next few days, I’ll be gathering resumes from as many as I can and will be sending them out to my contacts around the industry to see if there’s a ‘love connection’ to be made.”
Capcom has since given an official statement on the layoffs to Game Informer, confirming that “several employees from the US office” were let go. The official statement reads as follows:
“Capcom today laid off several employees from the US office as part of an overall organizational restructure of the company. The transition to the new generation of hardware and changing industry landscape have required us to adapt our business to best meet our new goals. We sincerely thank each individual for their contributions and wish them well.”
Our thoughts are with those affected by the company’s layoffs. These are always such a bummer.
