Infinity Blade Dungeons Officially Canned by Epic and Chair

The next iteration in the mobile game series Infinity Blade from Epic Games and Chair Entertainment, Infinity Blade Dungeons, has been officially cancelled, according to Chair co-founder and creative director Donald Mustard. This news comes out of the latest episode of the Epic Games podcast.

According to Mustard:

“It was a concept that originated with Epic and was an idea that we were happy to support. But when the studio working on it was closed, the game was canceled.”

Mustard was quick to clarify, however, that the franchise is not necessarily ending with the game’s cancellation.

“There’s more that we are Chair are totally planning to do with the Infinity Blade universe — more games, more books, maybe even other products. And we are very excited about that.”

The studio formerly working on Infinity Blade Dungeons, Impossible Games, which was created from the rubble of 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, closed its doors in February 2013. The project has been in a limbo of sorts since then. The game was originally announced early last year as a spin-off to the wildly successful iOS franchise of games, Infinity Blade.

Guess you’ll have to get your hack and slash elsewhere, folks.

  1. I can’t say that I am disappointed, I never liked the game to begin with. I had a colleague who loved it though. He beat it several times – I’ll make sure and rub this in. :)
