Marketing promos can often reveal bits and pieces about games long before that info’s ready to be given out by developers and publishers. And today, a post on CVG points the way to a stand-up display for WB Interactive’s Batman: Arkham Origins that looks like it drops the dime on the bad guys who will face off against the Caped Crusader.
While the game is supposed to feature 12 of the world’s best assassins, the villains that can be deciphered from the display are Deathstroke, Joker, Bane, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, and Deadshot. That’s in addition to Black Mask, who’s already been revealed in previous assets that have made their way online.
While I was a little skeptical about telling an origin story for Batman (and I’m still skeptical of an Arkham game without Rocksteady Studios), the more I think about it, the more this makes sense. The Arkham series of games exists outside of normal DC Comics continuity, so it makes sense that the people making these games would want to help flesh out the world they’re creating. I’m curious to see what kinds of threats the game-world’s Batman has had to deal with.
That said…I’m even more curious to see where the franchise goes AFTER Arkham City.
