Today, Tecmo Koei announced the forthcoming release of Dynasty Warriors 8. That’s EIGHT Dynasty Warriors games. Wow. If you want to scope out the feudal fun, check out the screens and art above.
The game’s going to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles on July 16, and will feature multiple endings and “extra modes with synergies between action and game systems.” That last bit? I don’t know what that means—but, you know, DYNASTY WARRIORS.
The press release published today says that the game will feature the “all new ‘What if?’ scenarios.” This is what that is:
“Breaking away from historical fact, this mode takes a look at what could have happened if famous characters had lived to fight another day. Stories branch out to different outcomes providing variety in the course and ending of the game, and giving the players the power to view an alternate version of history depending on their choices.”
Hmmm…isn’t Dynasty Warriors already pretty divorced from the facts, considering the crazy combat and magic powers and whatnot? Just saying.
Snark aside, the game is going to feature over 70 playable characters and 40 stages, so fans of the series should be pleased for this when it shows up this summer. Dynasty Warriors 8. Amazing. I have to be honest—I’m kind of amazed that the franchise is still going. It’s not every day you see an EIGHTH instalment in a series. Kudos to you, Dynasty Warriors. You get all the kudos.
Anyone out there super into this franchise? Explain the love. I want to know.
