Bastion Developer Announces a New Game Called Transistor
One of 2011’s most critically acclaimed games was Bastion, from SuperGiant Games. It’s pretty much one of the best titles to have come out within the last several years, and now the studio is set to release a new game in 2014: Transistor. Take a second to watch the trailer…
Done? How cool does that look? It seems that, like Bastion, Transistor will have a totally original soundtrack, not to mention isometric-style gameplay. There are also definitely some major RPG elements, but the comparisons might be ending there. Transistor looks like it’ll have a much heavier sci-fi element versus Bastion’s steampunk/fantasy setting.
Here’s the official description from SuperGiant:
“In Transistor, players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners.”
The announcement notes that SuperGiant has yet to decide on a platform, but based on the massive success of Bastion, I wouldn’t be surprised if the studio had their pick, and will go with whichever one gives the company the best deal and the most exposure. Bastion debuted on XBLA—so what platform(s) do you think would suit Transistor best?
And if you’re going to be at PAX East this week, you might get the chance to try out an early build at booth #892. Expect long, long lines.
And, just in case this wasn’t enough, here are some screenshots. Looking good, SuperGiant…
