Starbreeze, the studio behind 2012’s Syndicate and The Chronicles of Riddick announced Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons today for XBLA, PSN, and PC. Brothers will be published by 505 Games.
Through a handful of screenshots and the above trailer, it’s apparent that Starbreeze is moving a step or two away from their usual gritty and adult style. In Brothers, you control a pair of brothers at the same time using the right and left sticks. If you played NintendoLand it looks similar to that Animal Crossing game where you catch the people that use their hats to eat candy.
…that was a weird game.
Style-wise, the game sort of reminds me of Fable. High fantasy, cartoony and expressive animations, a dash of slapstick, and tons of fairy tale trappings. As much as I’m a fan of stabbing dudes in the neck with screwdrivers, I’m really interested to see what Starbreeze can do with something a little more lighthearted.
Brothers is currently scheduled for a Spring release, which means it should pop out in the next few months.
