Rumor: New Assassin’s Creed Game for the Vita Could be on the Way

Today, Ubisoft pulled the curtain on their new game, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, a game with pirates, a new protagonist, and a new setting. But while we’re waiting for more information to come out about that game, which is set for release on home consoles and PC, CVG has reported a rumor that a new, exclusive Assassin’s Creed game for the PlayStation Vita is in the works.

The news comes by way of VGLeaks, which claims that there will be two new Assassin’s Creed games coming from Ubisoft this year, and that instead of two console-based games, we should “bet for a Vita one in 2013.” It makes sense considering the statement of Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot, who said, as pointed out by CVG, that “The Vita is not dead for us,” and that the company is working on at least one unannounced game for the handheld.

It would make a certain amount of sense for Ubisoft to continue working on Vita-exclusive Assassin’s Creed games, though if sales of 600,000 for Liberation are to be believed, I do wonder if the number of sales justify the expense of development. Either way, I’m intrigued by the possibilities of another Vita-exclusive game. Do you think it might continue or otherwise relate to the events of Liberation? Or might we see something totally brand new and different? Hmmm…let us know what you think.

Just got a vita, haven’t played liberation yet. But, I have been a fan of the AC series for a while… and I really like my Vita so… why not!
