Here Are All The New PS4 Controllers (Updated)
With the wave of next-generation console news flooding our inboxes daily, outlets from around the industry (including Inside Gaming) have been reporting on rumor after rumor regarding controllers for the upcoming consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Sony has dominated the majority of recent headlines due to its reveal event slated for February 20 in NYC, so naturally “sources” have come out of the woodwork to “confirm” the legitimacy of leaked images of “prototype” hardware.
So, all in good fun, here’s a roundup of all the potentially-legitimate PS4 controller mock-ups from their respective outlets and their oh-so-secretive anonymous sources.
Update: A New Challenger Approaches (GameTrailers Forums)
This little fellow came about in the official GameTrailers forums this morning. It was posted by none other than ‘SquishyMuffin’, who says that he himself snapped the image. It bears resemblance to the first believable prototype initially showcased by Destructoid, which can be seen below.

This little pup is pretty ugly, but when you’ve got a PlayStation 4 the size and design of a Betamax tape player hooked up to it, why would you even be looking at the controller (and its little touchscreen)? That sucker can crank out some WICKED graphics, no doubt — not to mention have backwards compatibility with everything back to 1975. For five hundred and ninety nine US dollars, that’ll be a swell deal.
VG Revolution
Come on. That D-Pad looks ridiculous. Next.
No joysticks, huh? That’s quite a bold move, Big S. Don’t get me wrong, I’m digging the new look, it’s also what one would consider… bold. Maybe more brash, though. However, I think implementing a PlayStation Move attachment and 1-2 individual PS Vitas on the left side would help really sell this sucker. I’m up for a hardware contracting deal if you need something whipped up quick… say by February 20th?
The Real Controller
I’m fond of the last one on the list, but which one seems most appealing to you? Which one, personally, would you like to hold in your hands? WHICH ONE OF THESE, dearest reader, seems most viable for enjoying games upon?

Lol @ the last one. Sony pretty much carbon copied the Wii controls with the Move. Might as well strap all of these devices together to form Frankenstein’s monster.
I really hope that in the first two pictures, the little hole between the joysticks is a mini-jack port. That’d be awesome. Maybe a triple channel jack for used with mic too. This sounds too good to be true though.
Ghastly controller, looks like a cheap knock-off off the PS controllers with an useless touch pad for whatever ungodly reason.
I’m a bit love-hate about this. I HATED the PS3 controller for how flimsy it felt and how uncomfortable it was to hold now that my hands aren’t 10-year-old sized, but I’m also sad to see it go for nostaligic reasons.
I think this looks definitely looks a lot more comfortable however, and for that I am thankful. No pictures of the triggers, let’s hope they dumped those horrid flicky-triggers this time around.
Oh the typos. I am tired, forgive me inside gaming gods!
Thatso kay. We can bearly type wel rselfs.
Who knew, that ungodly looking thing really is the PS4 controller, kudos to whoever had the copper to leak it.
