Team Doubles, the classic multiplayer hopper that lets two people go toe-to-toe with other teams of two, will be returning in Halo 4 via a matchmaking update this week. This was revealed via the most recent Halo Bulletin on Halo Waypoint, where it was also mentioned that three different match variants will be included as a part of the Team Doubles inclusion.
Infinity Doubles, Doubles Pro, and CTF Doubles are those three variants, and they’re pretty much exactly what they sound like. Infinity Doubles puts you and a buddy against other two-person teams in Infinity Slayer, with custom loadouts, instant respawn and radar enabled. Also, Ordinance drops will only start when you reach 70 points.
Doubles Pro has preset weapon loadouts, no radar, ordinance drops or instant respawns. CTF Doubles fortunately has custom loadouts and radar, but is coupled with a 10 second respawn timer, a 3 second flag return, 15 second flag reset timer, and a goal of five flags captured to claim victory. Your flag doesn’t have to be at home to score.
The map hopper has yet to be finalized for these variants, but will be updated and circulated regularly. So far, the hopper includes altered iterations of Haven, Abandon, Solace, and several incorporated community-made Forge maps.
Please, just give us Lockout. Please.
As for other content related to Halo 4, Spartan Ops continues today with Episode 8’s launch, not to mention some minor tweaks to the CTF playlist.
Between this news and the launch of the Grifball playlist last week, I don’t think I could be happier. Sure, a pony would be nice and well-deserved, but I take life one reward at a time.
