Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Up for Pre-Order, Price is Puzzling

Weeks ago, Nintendo announced directly to the world that the GameCube-exclusive title, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, would be returning in high-definition form on the Nintendo Wii U. With only a few screenshots and a launch window to its name, pre-orders from major retailers have already started to surface.

Video game pre-order giants GameStop and Amazon have both opened the give-us-all-your-money floodgates and have set the price of the game at the regular, store-shelf threshold of $59.99. This price is in no way confirmed by Nintendo and may very likely be a placeholder amount until Nintendo unleashes official details on the game. It’s similar to what these companies do with pre-order dates, where they’ll slap a generic 1/1/2014 date on an upcoming game that has no specific release date issued from the publisher.

As it stands, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD is slated for launch on the Wii U by the end of 2013, with Fall pinned as the official window of launch. If you want to see the game in somewhat-action, click over to our coverage of the announcement for some glorious screenshots.

I can’t look at them, they’re so gorgeous I might start crying again.

Unless they give Wind Waker the same graphical update as Skyrim, there is no way that price will ever hold. It’s likely only going to cost 10-20 bucks, at most.

I’m thinking more along the lines of $30 to $40. Don’t you think that’s a bit low?

Well, I was talking about how much I’d be willing to pay for THAT specific Zelda game. Though, like Halo CA and all other remakes, it will likely jump to the prices you mentioned. If, however, they released it just for digital… Who knows?

If it’s strictly digital, dude, I wouldn’t mind at all. Seriously. If it’s digital at all (which I imagine it is given Nintendo’s push lately for putting retail games online), I’m buying it to start filling up my Wii U’s deluxe HDD.

          It needs some serious love.

This thing is either going to be 40 or 60 dollar. they’ll do three same thing as the halo remake.
