The Walking Dead is a comic book and a hit television show. It’s also an episodic adventure game series from TellTale Games that released in 2012 to astounding critical and consumer praise. It was very, very good, obviously.

But, another game based on the zombie-centered franchise is prepping for launch. Activision’s The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is the latest game from developer Terminal Reality, and it’s releasing on March 26, 2013 on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U whether you’re ready or not. In fact, the recently confirmed Wii U version will have unique Gamepad functionality that allows you to maintain and organize your inventory right from the touchscreen.

Terminal Reality has, in its relatively unknown life, produced a handful of games that have received criticism and sales in great variety, Kinect Star Wars being the most notable in recent memory. The developer was also responsible for the BloodRayne hack-and-slash horror games, Metal Slug Anthology, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and several others.

As for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, it recently received an utterly terrible trailer that, in a confusing mishap, was not an actual trailer. Penny Arcade has a pretty descriptive retrospective on the ordeal should you feel so inclined to learn more. However, the trailer was simply another straw in the “how good is this game actually going to be” back of the camel.

With that in mind, I continually wonder (given how little we’ve seen of the game in any playable capacity) just how fun this game is going to actually be, let alone if it’s worthy of the Walking Dead name.

Only on March 26 will we be able to really know. Hopefully, however, the marketing team at Activision will actually release a real trailer of the game sometime soon so my Aunt Cloey knows what to buy me for my birthday. Or, quite potentially, what NOT to buy me for my birthday.

Oh, right. Here’s the new trailer. It’s pitiful.

I do not know for sure but I do believe they are working on it. It will probably be a while though.
