Pokemon X and Y for 3DS Announced
Today, Nintendo announced the first true Pokémon titles for the 3DS handheld system: Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, both set to release in North America, Japan, and Europe in October of this year. This is the first time a Pokémon game has had a simultaneous worldwide launch, a decision that’s been informed by the online connectivity the games will enjoy.
Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of the Pokémon Company, explained the rationale in a press release published today:
“The worldwide launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y this October allows players to begin their adventures at the same time. Now, Pokémon fans across the globe can discover the secrets of Pokémon games and can collect, battle, and trade with each other immediately.”
As you can see in the trailer above, the game looks pretty slick from a visual standpoint. There’s a bunch of new Pokémon to collect, too, and the worldwide internet connectivity makes it seem pretty awesome. I know our writer Landon peeing in his pants over this one. I myself have never, ever played a Pokémon game, so I’m more than a little curious to see what this series has to offer me, a cynical bastard, in 2013.

Alright, I don’t need to eat, tons of people in Africa live perfectly fine without food…. I think…
Time to buy a 3DS…
Dear god… They’ve gone through all diamonds and colors… Now they’re going after our alphabet… The world is screwed the moment they turn to numbers…
well they already did numbers with Black 2 and White 2.
Well it’s time to dust off the 3DS
X, Y and soon Z. They’re not bothering with a title anymore. People will buy it anyways.
Well, for anyone freaking out about them going to numbers, don’t worry. There’s over 500 colors. And they might just be kicking off the 3D with letters? I’m just hoping for a Z!
