Chinese Dad Hires Virtual Hit Men to Repeatedly Kill Son’s Avatar

A post on Kotaku from a couple days ago reports one of the more interesting methods a parent has employed to try and get his kid to quit video games. Apparently “Mr. Feng” was fed up with his 23-year old son “Xiao Feng” playing video games instead of going out and looking for a job, as Xiao had left his job at a software development company after three months. To persuade him to give up the gaming habit, Mr. Feng hired virtual assassins to jump online and kill his son’s avatar, hoping that the frequent in-game deaths would cause him to quit playing in frustration.

But then Xiao figured it out after asking one of the guys who kept killing the hell out of him, and confronted his dad:

“I can play or I can not play, it doesn’t bother me. I’m not looking for any job—I want to take some time to find one that suits me.”

Yeah! Take that, Dad! Suck it!

Anyone out there have a parent or loved one take extreme measures to get them to stop playing? If it were me, the online hit men would’ve been enough. I remember playing Mega Man 8 on the PlayStation while I was in high school and just dying over and over in a boss fight. I got so mad, I just screamed at the TV at the top of my lungs, “FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU!” Then I turned it off. My mom asked me through the door if everything was okay. Needless to say, that was enough to get me to stop playing for a little while.

I like how they emphasize CHINESE dad, making sure everyone knows Americans are not dysfunctional like this. Good job.

Dad: “Here’s the deal… Take out the PC ‘SuperSpuge923,’ and I’ll give you six million gil….. But I want it done clean. No in-game cops.”
Hitman: “Welcome to the 21st century…”

Interesting that this came up. My family has made it clear that video games are a waste of my time and that I should quit them. My pregnant fiancee told me she’d leave if I didn’t quit because it’s childish. My mother, who wants me to be employed (though I’m on my third interview of the week) made me unsubscribe from all video game entities on Social networks including YouTube. This sucks a lot because I was working towards a degree in 3d design and programming. Suddenly I have to quit my passions. I game about 15 hours a week until yesterday. Now I’m forbidden from playing xbox, and had to delete hundreds of dollars of games from my laptop.

Dude if you are getting married your probably old enough to make your own decisions on what you do with your time. What say does your mother have, unless you live under her roof tell her to fuck off. Don’t be a push over to a bunch of chicks trying to bust your balls man.

Living with your mother and having a pregnant fiance must suck dude.

Whos the one making you quite video games, the parent or the fiance. If its the parent and your not living in there house then they don’t have a say in your life once you turn 18 regardless of what they may think. They can advise you but they cannot force you, that being said if its your fiance then find out what she does to relax and ask her to quit it completely. Video games are not childish, is just the behavior that determines the nature, 15 hours a week is not a horrible amount of time especially if you are looking for work and trying to enter that field. Sometimes you have to follow your passion wherever it takes you.

If you played with a calm feeling and a way of how exactly to play your game , you wouldn’t come through all that .. ok!?
