Journey Soundtrack Nominated for Grammy
Joystiq reports today that the Austin Wintory-penned soundtrack for Journey, the PSN title from earlier this year that blew people’s minds with its artistic and intriguing style and gameplay, has been nominated for a Grammy award in the category of “Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media.”
In fact, the soundtrack represents the first time a video game’s entire score has been nominated for a Grammy, though the post points out that Christopher Tin won a Grammy for his “Baba Yetu” song from Civilization IV last year. Considering that Winifred Phillips won the Hollywood Music in Media Award for her work on the score for Assassin’s Creed III Liberation, and you’ve got a lot more legitimacy being shown toward the constantly maturing medium of video games.
Congratulations to everyone at Thatgamecompany, and good luck at the Grammys!
