Microsoft Transforms Entire Country of Liechtenstein into Halo 4 Launch Event
Last night, Microsoft published a press release announcing one of the most epic and ambitious video game launch events yet: they transformed some of the most iconic landmarks in the Principality if Liechtenstein into Halo 4. Among the locales on the receiving end of the makeover were Gutenberg Castle—which dates back to the 13th century castle—and an actual working mine, both of which were converted into Halo-themed “theatrical experiences.”
Man! That’s just nuts in the butts!
Apparently Gutenberg Castle was changed into “a futuristic military fortification,” that offered up the chance to play Halo 4, while the quarry became something out of “The Halo 4 Experience,” featuring Master Chief running through some staged explosions. Not only that, a local farm was turned into “a post-apocalyptic battleground,” a transformation that I’m sure must have delighted the farmer.
The whole thing sounds totally crazy…and I kind of wish I’d been there to see it (thanks for not inviting me, Microsoft). I wouldn’t be surprised if footage turned up soon, so stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, take a look the slideshow above. And don’t forget, Halo 4 launches next Tuesday. Perhaps it will turn your living room into a post-apocalyptic battleground next…

Hey, M$, why not drop a few million my way? I know you good for it. I saw the dollar bill toilets paper rolls next to your golden toilets. I even saw Master Chief dropping gold bricks in there! Over 46 million in sales worth! :D
With the amount of marketing that goes into games, it’s no wonder they aren’t as profitable as they used to be
