Even more Rockstar news today than what we’ve already reported about GTA V. In honor of the tenth anniversary of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Rockstar Games announced today that they’re bringing the title to mobile devices, much in the same way they did for Grand Theft Auto III last December. The mobile edition will be made for iOS and Android platforms, though it’s likely that many Android devices will have some trouble, since there are so many different kinds of phones and tablets and whathaveyou. Rockstar has yet to announce which devices the game will work for, but you can be sure it’ll be some of the bigger ones like the Samsung Galaxy SIII (this is a guess).

Here’s what Sam Houser, Rockstar’s founder, had to say about the upcoming release:

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City gave players the freedom of a massive open-world in one of the most iconic and vibrant settings ever realized in a game. It was a defining moment in the series and we’re delighted to be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a stunning, updated version for phones and tablets.”

No specific release date other than “this fall,” but don’t be surprised to see this in early December. And with a year’s worth of technological upgrades and enhancements on the mobile front, not to mention more controller options than ever before, this port might be pretty awesome in ways that bring it pretty damn close to the original PlayStation 2 version.

Stay tuned.
