Ubisoft’s Pre-Order Record Broken by Assassin’s Creed III

Today, Ubisoft decided to toot its own horn a bit, announcing in a press release that next week’s Assassin’s Creed III has broken the company’s record for most pre-ordered game, “more than doub[ling] those of last year’s Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Ubisoft’s previous pre-order record holder.”

This makes lots of sense, considering that this is the first time the series has increased an actual number since the release of Assassin’s Creed II way back in 2009. While Ezio’s follow-up games—Brotherhood and the aforementioned Revelations—have been very popular, it’s clear that fans really clamor for true sequels. And the fact that we’ve got a new character and a whole new setting in the form of Revolutionary America, I can understand why there are twice as many pre-orders as there were before.

I know this is the first Assassin’s Creed game that I’ve preordered, and I can’t wait.

Breaking records yes – but there are lots of people who have had their pre-orders randomly cancelled and to date no official word from UBISOFT – but twitter and facebook counts are rising – all they have said is raise a ticket, and when you to do, no answer. Some unhappy fans out there.
