Carmack Admits ‘Poor Decisions’ Regarding Rage

A post on Joystiq today points the way to a Tweet by id Software big kahuna, John Carmack. Apparently the long-awaited modding tools for the game are on the way, but were delayed due to work being done on Doom 3: BFG Edition. But more than that, there’ve been some problems:

What do you think? I remember Rage was released late last year with a lot of hype leading up to it, but for whatever reason, I seem to recall some folks being mad about it for one reason or another. It did pretty well with critics over all, but since it came out, we haven’t heard much of a peep from the id people about it. Poor decisions all year? Weigh in.

You’re asking why everyone got angry with a game called RAGE? :P

RAGE was fun for the first 5 or 6 hours. After that is petered off…quite quickly. I felt the guns didn’t have a nice punchy sound, and other little things…Not really as horrifying as Doom, nor as satisfying. I believe some things could have been done better.

Yeah i agree with that, the only really fun weapons were the shotguns and the wingsticks and that was the only thing i really found cool. there were also horrible texture pop in problems that kinda ruined it after you first noticed it.
