Over the weekend, Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes, the two dudes who make up Super Meat Boy developer Team Meat, announced a brand new game: Mew-Genics. Billed as “a game about cats…kinda,” McMillen wrote that it “is by far the strangest project I’ve ever worked on…and that’s saying something.”

He continued on Team Meat’s blog:

“Tommy and I are very happy with how development has been going on it and decided that Mew-Genics will be the next official Team Meat game. We don’t want to spoil too much here, but we can say the game will be randomly generated, strange and involve cats.

We are moving quite fast on it and should be able to start talking about platforms, more gameplay details and screen shots soon.”

The game seems to have come out of a “game jam” exercise the two did over a weekend not too long ago, and suddenly a new project was born. I’m interested to see where this goes…

I’d normally post a cat gif to express my excitement for this announcement, but the Internet simply lacks applicable gifs today.
