First Expansion for Borderlands 2 Potentially Titled ‘Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty’

It appears as though the first major expansion to Borderlands 2 could be called ‘Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty,’ or so states some recently leaked information on PS3Trophies.org and, oddly enough, the Gearbox Software forums. None of this has been officially confirmed by Gearbox though, mind you, so keep expectations in check as you read further.

The three trophies listed above indicate that the first downloadable expansion will include some new story missions, some ‘Pirate’s Booty’ side missions, and a new region called the ‘Oasis’ to explore.

More details were found through the game’s Steam files (which have now been posted on the Gearbox forums), including the entire written story script. Someone was even so compelled as to post it on Pastebin (if you enjoy reading video game stories instead of playing through them).

Gearbox Software has formally announced that four expansions will be coming for Borderlands 2 post-launch, not counting yesterday’s released ‘Mechromancer’ DLC. If you have the Season Pass ($30), you’ll be able to access these content packs for no extra charge (including this teased one if it’s real). Otherwise, you can look forward to shaking your wallet out directly into the hands of the company’s CEO Randy Pitchford.

But you shouldn’t feel the least bit bad about that – Borderlands 2 is great, and you should buy it if you’re into things that are fun.
