Rovio Hints at Angry Birds: Star Wars, Announcement Coming Tomorrow

By Landon Robinson | 05 October 2012 | 3 Comments

Rovio, the development studio that brought you the globally successful game Angry Birds, is apparently working on a project that’s Star Wars in theme. Whether this is Angry Birds related or not remains somewhat (not really) a mystery, but Rovio has certainly been at work today tweeting images that propose questions that will (apparently) be answered tomorrow.

A still image was tweeted via the Rovio Twitter account this afternoon showing a round, barely lit character with a beak and distinct eyebrows (it sure looks like an Angry Bird), but most notably sporting Star Wars-themed gear. Soon after the tweet, the official Angry Birds Tumblr page went live with an animated version of the previous image. Lightsabers confirmed.

So, what are we looking at here? Is it yet another iteration of Angry Birds set in the Star Wars universe? One would think that a pretty tough sell, given that the team already produced Angry Birds: Space. Then again, it’s Star Wars – meaning anyone with an affinity for things Star or War related will lay down the necessary cash to get their hands on it. I suppose that’s not a tough sell at all — people gobble up Angry Birds games like they’re a Thanksgiving turkey.

Wait a minute, you don’t think they’ll do a Thanksgiving-themed iteration titled Angry Turkeys… do you? Oh no.

If anything, we’ll know tomorrow at 10am Eastern Time, when Rovio will let loose the news in freaking Times Square in New York City.

I never liked angry birds and this doesnt change my opinion in the game. I love star wars but angry is just the same game over and over with different themes
