Bungie’s Next Game ‘Project Destiny’ Incorporates Talent from Red Dead Redemption Dev
Though it’s been discussed and passed about in rumor after rumor on the vast Internet, we’ve heard virtually very little in the way of details about what Bungie, the creators of Halo, have planned for their next big game, Project Destiny. However, a recent mailbag feature on their community blog unveils not only that the game is indeed a sandbox title as many have predicted, but is being maintained by some of the talent that crafted the truly fantastic Rockstar Games classic, Red Dead Redemption.
A fan question inquired of Bungie what the studio thought of Rockstar Games and the products they’ve shipped, to which Bungie responded by telling them that they actually hired one of the dudes from Rockstar.
“We liked Red Dead Redemption so much that we hired Danny Bulla to come here and help us fill your next sandbox,” Bungie said.
”He’s doing some amazing work and, so far, he hasn’t tried to lash any of us to a pair of railroad tracks.”
Bulla was actually introduced as a part of the Destiny team as far back as March this year, but apparently nobody caught the correlation between him and his work on Red Dead Redemption. Even in that introductory post, Bulla seems to hint at the potential of Destiny being a sandbox game:
“We try to make all the things you do feel and play amazingly,” Bulla stated. “So much, that you’ll want to do it over… and over… and over again!”
As far as what Bungie has told us, beta testing is already underway for Destiny, with the game expected as early as 2013 as a timed Xbox exclusive. And no, it’s not anything Halo-related, so don’t ask if is.
They’re not on that merry-go-round anymore, remember?

Of course it’s going to be an MMO… A sci-fi, FPS MMO… Whether this is a bad thing remains to be determined…
