Mechs Added to Halo 4 Multiplayer, Valhalla Map Returning
With a slew of preview coverage under our belt and a stockpile of Doritos and Mountain Dew prepped in the basement for the unavoidable upcoming three-day gaming session, we’re more than ready for the November 6 release of Halo 4. But just because we’re ready for the game to slide into our grubby hands doesn’t mean developer 343 Industries is done surprising us with even more announcements… like, for example, the return of the widely-loved Halo 3 map ‘Valhalla’ and the addition of a new multiplayer vehicle: the Mantis.
The Mantis being, by the way, a fully-controllable Mech. You know, I fell to sleep last night in a world where Halo 4 was a first person space opera with industry-defining multiplayer and an amazing feature set, but I awoke in a world where it’s still all that… but radically infused with some MechWarrior. And I think I like it.
Were the sole fact that a Mech exists in Halo enough, I’d stop talking — but this baby has machine guns, rockets, and the power to stomp on other players and their not-quite-as-awesome vehicles. Like other vehicles, however, the Mantis can be hijacked by other players and stalled with the well-planned shot of a Plasma Pistol.
And by the grace of sweet Mother Nature, Valhalla is back — and under the name ‘Ragnarok’. Everyone hoping to sprint for the Spartan Laser, please form an orderly line down the middle.
Check out the trailer courtesy of our good friends at Halo Waypoint, and be sure to also check out our preview hub for Halo 4, which formed from the joyous, magical tears of Adam Kovic, which produced after playing several straight hours of the game a few weeks ago.
Yes, it’s OK to hate him for it.
