BioWare Announces Mass Effect Trilogy

me trilogy

Are you one of the few gamers who hasn’t wasted millions of hours playing Mass Effect? Well get ready to, in fact, do just that: today BioWare announced the impending release of Mass Effect Trilogy. Set for release on November 6 *for the PC, Xbox 360, and sometime later for the PS3, the $59.99 compilation will include all three games, though it doesn’t seem as though it’ll have the DLC.

This may be a bit frustrating to some fans, considering the third game in the series was released only this year at the same price, and now it’s getting what’s essentially a $40 price cut. Even still, having a budget priced compilation for the holidays makes sense. And by paying the premium, you got to enjoy that content earlier and more often than anyone buying the trilogy.

That said, DANG! Sixty bucks for three big ol’ games. Pretty good deal. I tried playing the first Mass Effect a few years ago in preparation for the release of the second game in the series. It was too hard, so I quit.

I’m kind of lame like that.

I imagine this will exclude the Playstation 3?

My bad. I had a brain-fart and forgot to add the platforms to the post. They’re added now. Xbox 360 and PC at first, PS3 to come at a later, as-yet unnanounced date.

Presumably an Origin exclusive on PC right?

I the first game twice (regular and platinum) and then bought the final two retail. Unless they are throwing in DLC, I don’t think the fans have much incentive to take the plunge. At least make an “ultimate edition” of ME2. Nonetheless, giving ME1 to the PS3 community was pretty cool.

According to the story you won’t, as it seems the DLC for all games will be missing apparently. Nice job there EA making us pay for stuff all over again. But early days yet I suppose, let’s hope they don’t decide to be cheapskates and release it with all DLC (or at least all DLC for ME 1 & 2).

I question the fate of this series though with the departure of both of Bioware’s founders.

It amuses me that some people still hope that EA won’t screw gamers at every turn for an extra dollar.

I personally hope they bring this out for the Wii U instead of just ME3 that they announced at E3. (They just showed old Trailer during a the Nintendo Wii U section of the E3 press Conferance.)
