Amazon’s Gold Box is a Better Deal than the Replacement Refs

Today, Amazon’s Gold Box has nothing but video game deals, and it looks like a pretty solid selection if the hints are anything to go by. The Deal of the Day is Madden NFL 13 for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, coming in at only $40, a tough deal to resist considering how relatively new the game is. And considering how much the scab refs have been botching the last three weeks of football, this might be your last shot to get some regulated, properly officiated action before a player finally crosses the line and kills a replacement official, thus ending the season in week 4.

Mark my words, it’ll happen.

As of this writing, the Lightning Deals have just started, with the first one revealed to be The Black Eyed Peas Experience for the Wii. So you can probably totally ignore that. In fact–ignore that. You’ll be happier if you do. Ugh.

But regarding the deals after the Black Eyed Peas, some of the hints would seem to indicate recent hits you’ll actually want to play, like Sleeping Dogs and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (that last one actually is the hint…so there’s that). It also seems like the PlayStation Move might wind up on there, along with a couple of headsets for the PS3.

I wish this weren’t happening. I really want a copy of Madden…and Lego Batman 2…but I’m trying to save my money! There are some big games coming out soon, and I want to hold onto my cash! But…discounted games…

You bastards. Stop making me poor.

Okay, poorer.
