Here’s the List of Wii U Launch Games

After the big press event in New York today, Nintendo sent out a press release to announce their lineup of games that will be available for the Wii U console AT launch, or WITHIN the launch window, which spans from November 18, 2012, to March 31, 2013. That’s kind of a big window…but whatever. It’s still a buttload of games.

No word on specific release dates—so any of these might be coming out in time for the holidays, or at the beginning of next year. Though, expect most of the first-party Nintendo games like New Super Mario Bros. U to be a day-of-release kinda jam, and the sports games as well. Who would want to play Madden in January? The answer is NO ONE.

Reggie also announced a pre-order bonus with Lego City: Undercover, where you’d get a minifig of the game’s protagonist…some guy whose name I don’t remember right now. If you’re into Legos, though, you best start pre-ordering right now. Activision also had a somewhat disappointing demo, showing of Black Ops II…and also Wipeout 3. That’s right, one of the titles they’re crowing about is that dumb obstacle course game that sucked on the Wii.

Another point to consider: no suggested price point. All Wii games have been about $49.99, while Xbox 360 and PS3 games have retailed for ten dollars more. With the move to HD, I have a feeling Nintendo will start to charge the higher price…anyone out there see evidence one way or the other?

15 games might hold my interest and that’s a feat for launch day, Wii U might be interesting after all.
