Resident Evil 6 Getting Multiplayer DLC After Launch
Following the October 2 launch of Capcom’s latest entry in their long-running, zombie-focused franchise, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 6 will be receiving additional content, mostly in the form of new online modes.
Focused entirely upon expansion of the multiplayer suite in RE6 are the following additions: Survivors Mode, Predator Mode, and Siege Mode.
Survivors mode is a twisted-up version of the “humans versus infected” game type, seen in popular games like Halo 3 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. If you’re killed as a human, you’ll respawn as an “enemy character” that can then attack the human team. If an enemy can successfully take down two humans, they’ll be able to respawn back on the human side. The last man (or team) standing will arise victorious.
Predator Mode, unlike Survivors Mode, is a timed match that pits human players against an individual player in control of the Ustanak, the “fearsome B.O.W.” that causes Jake Muller problems in the single player story. The Ustanak’s goal is to wipe out the other players, while they focus on preventing just that… or simply run and hide until the end of the round.
Siege Mode pits players against each other as per usual, but this time has the humans aiming to protect a lone NPC. Conversely, the enemy team is out to eliminate that same, poor NPC. If the NPC is alive when the round ends, humans win – if not, well you get the idea.
Each of these modes will support up to six players over the Internet, and can be played using maps from the game’s Mercenaries Mode.
Your accomplishments will be tracked across these modes and others on ResidentEvil.net, the free online service designed by Capcom to keep players up on their game and, above all, competitive with each other. You know, for killing zombies and stuff.
