Sony Reveals Wonderbook Release Date and Details

Remember Sony’s Wonderbook presentation from E3 this June? It was this weird kid-friendly peripheral meant to remind you that you own a PlayStation Move thing, and pretend like you’re interacting with a magic book on your TV. It’s for the kids, for sure, but the first project out of the gate for the peripheral is set to be a new jam from J.K. Rowling, tangentially set in the Harry Potter-verse.

Well, today on the PlayStation Blog, some more details about Wonderbook have come through, including a November 13 release date (surely meant to capitalize on Black Friday craziness). The game is called Book of Spells, and will come bundled with the Wonderbook itself, as well as the PlayStation Eye camera and PlayStation Move controller, all for $79.99.

Eighty bucks for an interactive Harry Potter simulator? That seems like a pretty solid idea, I gotta say. Harry Potter fans sad over the fact that they haven’t got a new book or movie to wait in line for will definitely help move these when it comes out. Though I do wonder at the staying power of the device itself.

What do you think? Wonderbook? Or Wonderwhy? (See what I did there?)
