G4, the long-time running television network centered on video games and entertainment for the young geeks out there, is undergoing a form of re-branding soon, according to a post on Variety. Reportedly changing in both name and format, the NBC Universal-owned network will reportedly be going the path of GQ, a magazine designed for the “modern male” that focuses on things dudes like, which may or may not include video games.

“The guy-centric net is mulling a more sophisticated look while remaining true to its tech and vid game roots,” mentions the article, indicating that while gaming may very well still be a topic worth coverage, the show will simply focus less on geek culture and more on… well, other things that aren’t geeky.

This new network/channel is set to undergo re-branding sometime in early 2013.

“Will it remain focused on video games?” How is showing 5 episodes of cops, followed by 5 episodes of ninja warrior still video game focused?
