Halo 4 Spoilers Spill Online
A post on Eurogamer this morning reports that plot spoilers from 343 Industries’ forthcoming Halo 4 have surfaced on the web, still months before the game’s November 6 release. The details were first found in 343’s latest trailer for the game, in which a super-face shot of the story script can be seen, with the game’s main antagonist’s name appearing prominently.
The details were corroborated by the Amazon listing for The Thursday War, a tie-in novel. The listing allows shoppers to actually read through whole chunks of the book’s text, resulting in some details from the new game spilling out.
So who is the main bad guy? Read on to find out…
Spoilers Ahead
The main antagonist in Halo 4 is a villain named the Didact, an ancient Forerunner believed to be a living god by the Covenant. According to the Eurogamer post, the character has previously appeared in the Halo anime series, Halo Legends, and another novel based on the franchise, Cryptum.
The post also provides a transcription of what they saw in the trailer, taken from about four minutes into it:
Didact: “Compassion for mankind is misplaced.”
Chief: “I’m not doing this for mankind.” Chief then charges at Didact.
Cortana rushes towards Didact and jumps all over him (legs, arms, chest, back).
Several takes of “Cortana” tackling and climbing on random objects at full speed.
Didact is attacked by Cortana. He attempts to swat at Cortana as a means of self defense.
Didact unclenches his fist and drops Chief.
Here’s a screen-grab from the trailer that the post says it’s working from. I can see much of the text above, though I have a feeling bits and pieces are simply extrapolations. Click to embiggen:
The post also offers up a relevant bit from The Thursday War novel:
“Don’t you see it? Requiem. That’s where the Didact was hidden. That’s where they say he waits.”
“He tried to fight the flood. He tried to destroy the humans.”
“Didact sleeps and must never be woken.”
Well? Does any of this make you excited? Skeptical? Lat it on us.

This is legit, but the extrapolation seems a bit silly. Why would Cortana TACKLE anyone? She’s an AI-hologram.
That means that she’s the ghost if a hologram. You can’t touch her but she can touch you.
In one of the new Halo Books, a Forerunner artifact causes Black Box, an AI, to feel human pain.
Possibly the forerunners can make AI’s become physical? Who knows? Only time will tell.
I think the question here is which Didact? The original or the mutation/clone? I don’t think the original would necessarily want Humanity dead, he regretted destroying them in the first place. The Didacts mutation/clone still has Bornsteller’s “Ghost” and Bornsteller saw humans as pet’s and really nothing else. But then again living for 110,000 years and being the man that destroyed all life in a galaxy could probably make anyone go insane.
Why would you show the script in a ViDoc? I saw it there but why would it be logical at all to include that in the video knowing that people would leak it easily.
