The World Ends With You iOS Port Leaked

By Lawrence Sonntag | 24 August 2012 | 3 Comments

By accidentally posting CD info for the game’s arranged soundtrack, Square Enix revealed the identity of the mysterious countdown website that’s been slowly ticking down for the last few days. The album info describes that the new game is an iOS port of 2008′s The World Ends with You for Nintendo DS, and not a full sequel like everyone hoped.

The album also reveals that the re-release will use arranged tracks of the game’s music that appeared in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. I will now link to our review of that game for no particular reason.

Square has since pulled the info for the soundtrack CD, but the ace printscreeners at Siliconera proved the old adage: once on the Internet, always on the Internet.

As a legit fan of TWEWY, it’s a bummer that this is nothing more than a port. I’m glad that more people will probably play it now, and the success of an iOS port might pave the way for an actual sequel. So that’s the silver lining here I guess.

This makes me feel so terrible right now. I seriously doubt that this is going to be as enjoyable to play compared to playing it on a Nintendo DS. Also, i’m worried that either the controls are going to be dumb down for this port or it will be a complete mess to play with on an Iphone because of its small screen.

Wow this is probably the biggest disappointment of the year for me.
