Xbox Durango Dev Kit Sells for Twenty Grand on eBay

A post on Eurogamer today reports that DaE, the mystery man of the internet who’s been bragging about his possession of a dev kit for Microsoft’s next generation console (codenamed “Durango”), has sold one of his kits on eBay for $20,100.

DaE said on Twitter:

So, as we can see, this is one of his extra dev kits.

The dev kit—which, for all intents and purposes, might very well be bogus—garnered 43 bids from 18 different bidders. The auction began at a buck, and climbed up by hundreds, until one bidder jacked the proceedings up from $900 to $3,000. From there, the price skyrocketed, with the next-biggest leap going from $16,000 to $20,000. The extra hundred dollars, it seems, sealed the deal somehow—the page says “the listing was ended by the seller because the item was sold,” meaning that there were probably a few days left on the auction.

Many questions, obviously. Still wondering who this guy is and how he managed to get a dev kit. And now I’m wondering who the person is who has twenty grand to throw around on an unsubstantiated dev kit…possibly Microsoft or Sony? Stay tuned for more on the DaE saga as it unfolds…

      Or, $20,000 worth…OF THE FUTURE!

Or, and this is my favorite scenario, it’s Microsoft looking to find out this dude’s address so they can sue him into oblivion. Which would make for quite the story, wouldn’t it?
