Persona 5 in Production
A post on Andriasang from earlier today has all the news that’s fit to print from Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu. And among the many tidbits included in the post’s news roundup was the revelation that Katsura Hashino says his staff is hard at work on the next installment in Atlus’s Persona franchise, which is, you know, Persona 5. According to the post, “Shigenori Soejima has submitted sketches, and the game is making progress.”
Well hot diggity damn. If you’re a fan of weird, trippy Japanese role playing games that blend elements of Jungian psychology (according to the Wikipedia entry on the series), then Persona’s the game for you. I’m sure Lawrence could tell me all about how it’s awesome and how he likes to play it in between watching episodes of Power Rangers on Netflix and bowls of Oh’s. But to be completely honest, I’m not sure he’s gonna be able to convince me of this one. TOO WEIRD. NO THANKS, YOU.
But that doesn’t mean YOU can’t tell me all about why I should give a shart about Persona. Tell me in the comments. I triple dog dare you.

Persona IS awesome! God damnit I hate being predictable.
“Weird” is such a subjective term and it makes you sound like a boring tw@t when you use it to describe something non-standard. There are much better criticisms you could make for not digging Persona – such as, the story is too far-fetched, or the characters are too juvenile and one dimensional for me to relate to, or these sort of games are steeped in Japanese culture and philosophy, and as a Westerner it just doesn’t make sense to me. When you say “weird” you not only suggest you haven’t given the series a second though = therefore are ignorant, but you also suggest (whether on purpose or not) that people who like said game are themselves weird and risk alienating fans who do not want such labels. I know this whole rant is probably way over-reaching and entirely unnecessary and I’m sure you didn’t mean what I suggested you do, but then again perception is what journalism is all about, so maybe just think about next time.
Persona is gooooooooood
