Behemoth to Hold Second Annual Castle Crashers Tournament of Champions
A post on Joystiq points the way over to the website of The Behemoth, the development studio behind the XBLA classic Castle Crashers and the forthcoming Battle Block Theater. Over on the site, the studio’s posted details about the second annual Castle Crashers Tournament of Champions, in which players vie for supremacy in the game’s arena mode.
Here’s how it all shakes out:
“To be eligible for the tournament you have to fight your way into the top 100 Weekly Ranked Arena players on the XBLA Castle Crashers leaderboards by noon (PST) on August 17th, 2012. You will have all that week to battle amongst yourselves to claim those spots. The top 100 valid leaderboard entries will compete in 1 on 1 Arena matches, in a single elimination tournament format on Saturday August 25th, 2012 until we have a victor!”
Players who make it to the top 50 will get prizes, and the top 24 will get a special bonus. Third place winners get a set of four Castle Crashers mini-figurines, ten squeezy chickens, a t-shirt, a hat, and a cell phone charm. Second place gets a signed Necromancer figure, the shirt and hat, a charm, one mini-figurine, and fifteen of the aforementioned chickens.
First place gets 25 chickens, a mini-figurine, all of the cell phone charms, the shirt, the hat, the signed Necromancer, and, of course, a gold Xbox 360. Which is awesome.
I haven’t played Castle Crashers in ages, and I doubt my ability to really do particularly well…but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted by this contest…
