Rise of the Triad Remake Announced
If you were born prior to the 90s and just so happened to be into video games, chances are you got your grubby mitts on a copy of Rise of the Triad – the balls-out FPS from Duke Nukem developer Apogee Software. Well get locked and loaded, because it’s on its way back in remake form with the help of Unreal Engine 3 and Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded developer Interceptor Entertainment.
“We were seeking a strong, independent, hard-working development partner to herald the eagerly-anticipated return of Rise of the Triad,” mentionedTerry Nagy, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Apogee. “We have indeed found that partner in Interceptor Entertainment.”
The remake of the game was announced in-full at this week’s QuakeCon after being teased via a tweet earlier this week. Additionally, we’ve got the exclusive trailer here for your viewing pleasure.
Priced at $15, the over-the-top style of the original Rise of the Triad is said to remain intact, and that includes the revival of favorite weapons like the Flamewall, Drunk Missile, and Excalibat. Other weapons you’ll have access to include dual pistols, an MP40, the Heatseeker, Firebomb, Split Missile and the Dark Staff.
Single player missions can be played in multiple modes, from God mode, to Elasto mode, Mercury mode, Dog mode and even Shrooms mode. Multiplayer, on the other hand, will implement zero gravity and “gunfinity” options, among others.
Just watch the video – I think you’ll pick up on it pretty quick. You’re a smart guy/gal.
