Dawnguard DLC Available on Steam Today
Over the last few days, Bethesda VP Pete Hines has been Tweeting this and Tweeting that about Skyrim’s DLC being MIA from Steam and PlayStation 3—or, more specifically, saying how there’s nothing yet to say. But late yesterday, Bethesda updated their blog to mirror an announcement made at QuakeCon: that Skyrim’s DLC pack, “Dawnguard,” is now available for twenty bones on Steam, officially ending the Xbox 360’s reign as the content’s exclusive home. To celebrate the DLC’s availability, Steam has slashed the price of Skyrimby 50 percent, meaning that the full game’s $30 price tag and the DLC’s $20 cost add up to less than the regular price of the game. So, you know, if you haven’t yet, buy this on Steam probably.
Of course, you cannot have light without darkness—and that darkness takes the form of the still-absent PlayStation 3 version of the downloadable pack.
A post on the BethBlog explains the development team’s predicament:
“We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality.”
Heartfelt message. True regret. “As disappointed as our fans.” Do you feel the pathos? The sadness? I do.
No word yet on when the PS3 version of Dawnguard will rise from the dead, but rest assured, they’re working on it. For now, unleash your torrent of fury in the comments below. Fus ro dah.

actually it was yesterday that it was released.
It was released yesterday for PC.
However, it seems kinda off how Bethesda says that they want to polish it more for PS3, yet I have found some issues with the PC version. So far its all model issues while using crossbows, and a few NPCs have had the urge to stand in the same ‘neutral’ position of models. Yes, its a small gripe, but this is a Bethesda game, meaning that where you see one bug, there are many many more waiting along the road.
I was under the assumption that the beta testing that was done on the Xbox 360 would also help quash any PC and PS3 bugs, but apparently not. That being said, I can’t wait to get off work and go home to game my face off.
Ok, this is getting a bit tedious now. Sure, they want to polish Dawnguard for the PS3, but we’re losing out more and more time to play it before the summer is over. Also, why can’t Bethesda give us some rough estimate when it will go gold? After doing it for the Xbox and PC already, you would have guessed they would have some idea by now?
