id Software In Need of Programmers For Project “on future-generation consoles”

The folks behind Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein and last year’s Rage need help crafting their next big thing, and don’t tell anyone, because it’s super-secret.

Actually, it’s not, because developer id Software recently published some job listings attempting to attain some new UI programmers for their team, particularly those “experienced” enough to work with “cutting-edge technology for an unannounced game on future-generation consoles.”

The listing also points out that any interested, qualified candidates should be familiar with “id Software games, characters, brands and universes.”

Does this indicate that the next game we see out of iD Software will be a sequel to a pre-existing franchise? Perhaps, but it could also be used as an opportunity to debut yet another property from the developer. With its annual event QuakeCon right around the corner (next week), we might actually find out.

So, you tell me what you think this project is more likely to be: A sequel to Quake, Wolfenstein or Rage? What about the oh-so-elusive Doom 4? Will Commander Keen ever see a glorious return?

Whatever it is, it’s not releasing until after those new consoles rear their beautiful, glossy faces.

Okay, seriously. MS, Sony, just announce next gen consoles already! It’s like trying to keep the 2013 CoD a secret! Everyone knows it’s going to happen! Just give us the name in the very least!
