Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 Now Called A Realm Reborn

Square Enix’s attempt to un-suck Final Fantasy XIV is now called A Realm Reborn, which is entirely apropos given what the relaunch is intending to do. This news comes with the above trailer, which showcases Square Enix’s proficiency at cranking out some amazing-looking visuals.

The Final Fantasy XIV website has also been revamped, though gamers curious about actual changes or additions to the game won’t find such news there. You can, however, get some primers about the game’s world of Eorzea. Something for the lorehouds I ‘spose.

I didn’t hate my time with FFXIV, and I’m really excited about the relaunch. I’m hungry for nitty gritty details about what will be improved though, and hopefully that will be coming soon.

Oh and a release date would be nice too but you can’t rush these things.

I’ll wait to see whether or not it’s worth a damn, seeing as the original XIV was such a flop. I hope it isn’t a flop this time around.

Notice there was barely any gameplay in this trailer? I wonder…

Unfortunately, I’m still not buying into any MMO other than SWTOR. But I will watch this CG and go “dang”. I guess it hints at some extra spells and what the new aesthetic will be like, but I expect it’s just going to be “more FFXIV”. Now with more spells and attacks whoooooooo.
