Announced today by Microsoft was Avatar FameStar, a new Xbox Live program centered around your Xbox 360 avatar and his/her ridiculous outfits. FameStar essentially acts as a reward system for certain games that use these avatars, and will allow you to unlock more silly outfits for them.

Take for example, Wreckateer, one of a few FameStar compatible games. By doing certain activities and completing certain objectives in gameplay (similar to achievements and avatar rewards), you’ll earn fame which can contribute toward your unlocking of certain outfits and accessories for your avatar. Some examples are shown above.

As of today, Wreckateer, A World of Keflings, and Full House Poker are the only titles compatible with the program. Upcoming XBLA-exclusive games like Avatar Motocross Madness, Homerun Stars and Fire Pro Wrestling will be compatible as well.

Look how ridiculous you can look, and by only playing a few games! Man, what a deal.

Oh, and you can bet that the majority (if not all) of these FameStar compatible games will be Microsoft-owned, meaning you likely won’t be earning any Skyrim or Minecraft-based “fame” for your avatars with Avatar FameStar.

It’s about money children, it’s always about money.
