Kojima To Show off Newest Game Engine on August 30
Hideo Kojima, the man behind the Metal Gear franchise from Konami, has promised to showcase to the public his studio’s newest game engine – and possibly even a new game, by the end of August.
“Although the Fox Engine is not finished we are ready to show what it can do, on August 30 in Japan to be more specific,” Kojima mentioned in a feature on the PlayStation Blog.
The 30th of August runs in line with the Metal Gear 25th Anniversary event in Tokyo, Japan. We sat down with Hideo Kojima earlier this year to discuss this special occasion.
Kojima is eager to show off the tech, even though it’s incomplete – mainly due to the fact that a new game (that hasn’t been revealed yet) is being developed alongside it.
“The Fox Engine is nearly finished, but the only way to be sure it works is to create a game at the same time and improve the engine with our tools as we go along.
Originally we were going to do this for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but a lot happened along the way and instead it is being made with the engine they have at Platinum Games.”
Kojima and his team are currently at work (as far as we’ve been told) on an assignment called Project Ogre, as well as (what could potentially be ) Metal Gear Solid 5 and a brand new Zone of the Enders game.
I guess we’ll all wake with giddy anticipation on August 30, huh?
