RuneScape, that one online MMO that helped pioneer the new frontier known as Free-To-Play gaming, has officially garnered 200 million registered players. Since its release in 2001, RuneScape has not only soared past the benchmark for registered players, but also has a smashing 443 billion minutes of game time on record across the board.

In celebration of this milestone, developer Jagex is throwing a three-day bash for players to earn special items and commemorate the occasion together. In total, you’ll be able to fight a new demon boss (that has 200 million hit point of health), and in-tandem earn a unique weapon developed specifically for the occasion. If you slay the demon, with or without your other RuneScape buddies, you’ll be rewarded with another unrevealed unique item.

There’s also a new mini-site celebrating the whole bit — so check that out if you’re so inclined.

Now get out there and go play some RuneScape! You’ve only had about 10 years get going!

Just make sure to stay out of those woody areas, and especially don’t trust the Wizards who want you to follow them into said woody areas — just trust me.

Man, this game was glorious back in 06. You couldn’t fucking trust anyone. Shit was a cut-throat world full of 13 year olds.
