The Ratchet & Clank HD Collection won’t be the only way to get your R&C fix this year, as the recently announced Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault is on its way to a PSN-exclusive release this fall. Insomniac Games released some details this morning about the game, its modes (both online and off) as well as the first screenshots of the game in motion.

Mechanically, Full Front Assault is heading back to its roots with implementation of the classic camera, weapons, and the fully third-person style fans are familiar with. The game itself will feature a similarly styled experience, but now with a new “tower defense element” that allows you to build fortifications and fight off impending invasions of enemies.

Insomniac pins it as “a whole new level of strategy and decision-making.”

“It’s a tower defense twist- not a full on TD game. It’s still the same Ratchet action you love, but you now have an additional layer of strategy in building and defending your base,” mentioned Senior Community Manager James Stevenson.

The game will be playable via both split-screen and online co-op, and will have five playable levels set on three different planets.

Insomniac also teased a new online mode that will be revealed at a later date.

No release date has been revealed just yet, but we do have some slick screenshots in the gallery below to tide you over.
